About Stitching Desert Rays
Hi, I’m Kylie — the designer, maker, heart and hands behind Stitching Desert Rays.
I’m a work-from-home mum living in rural Australia, running a small handmade business from my sewing room (which is usually shared with kids, fabric scraps, and at least one half-finished coffee).
Stitching Desert Rays was born from real mum life and my love of sewing. As pram wagons began to appear more in Australia, I saw the need and demand for practical, easy-clean solutions to help keep pram wagons looking newer for longer.
Every piece is handmade by me, one at a time, with busy mums in mind. My products are designed to protect your pram wagon, make cleaning easier, and add a splash of personality along the way. I love bright colours, fun prints, and fabrics that feel joyful — because parenting is hard enough without everything being beige.
You’ll also find a few special creations made by my 11-year-old daughter, Elyssa. She’s just as creative as I am and loves getting involved, making sweet handmade pieces alongside me. We’re making the most of this last year working side-by-side before she heads off to boarding school next year — a season that’s equal parts exciting and emotional.
This isn’t a factory operation — it’s a small, hands-on business built around managing a cattle station, remote living limitations (and its gifts), kids at boarding school, and a casual job in town. Every order supports an Australian mum doing her best to juggle family, creativity, and small business from a very quiet corner of the country.
Thank you for being here and supporting handmade.
